![]() Barbara Roux, "Untitled Deciduous Leaves", soapstone and alabaster, 1998-2003
|
|
Barbara Roux Leaf, Branch Elements Roux's homage to the fragile composition of nature is nowhere more conscious than in her subtle interpretations of fallen leaves and tree fragments. "Untitled Deciduous Leaves" and "Untitled Tree Stumps" are alabaster and soapstone leaf and tree carvings, hewn by hand using hand held rifflers, chisels and mallets. "Branch Element Installation" is a sculptural rendering of tree fragments made from air-dried clay, displayed alongside actual boughs, limbs and shoots.
