Artist StatementIn a non-invasive way, I explore ecological issues through work that is layered in irony and mystery. My installations are strongly informed by my knowledge from research on natural history. I am concerned with the juxtaposition between the rhythms that operate in a natural habitat and the needs of humans to control these environments. Formal and narrative layers exist in my work. Concepts of growth, loss and preservation are dealt with literally and through metaphor. Connections occur between past and present events. There is a resonant feeling present in these works. It is my goal to create a dialogue with the viewer that is subtle but enduring. |
