Root Wraps
Live Trees and plants, muslin and linen at Rockford Art Museum, IL, 2000
30 live trees have their root balls wrapped in strips of muslin and linen upon which is printed text, one from
Thoreau's 1855 journal: a likening of thoughts in the mind to roots in the earth, sprouting, airy ideas. The other
text is from Wordsworth, describing landscape through human qualities.
