| Chinese by birth, currently living in the U.S, painter Chow approaches his floral subjects with a
distinctively eastern sense of time, calling our attention to the tiny and everyday while simultaneously
speaking about the larger picture of life. The paintings look as if they are done quickly with a calligraphic
intensity of expression. The flower represents simplicity, its life cycle is fleeting, it speaks of the truth
and commonality of all life - birth, life, death, decay, a dance repeated ad infinitum.
